A very practical essay about labling floppy disks. What were you writing about in eigth grade?
If you have problems keeping your computer disks organized and you hate those ugly, scribbled up, handwritten labels that most people use for labeling disks, here is a tip on how to print nice labels on your computer with any dot-matrix printer (Don't try this with a laser printer, you may end up with melted tape glue all over the inside of you printer).
To print the labels you will need: A sheet of paper; transparent tape (The tape width should be enough to hold what ever information you want on the label; 3/4 inch tape is good enough in most cases) and electrical tape (The electrical tape should be the same width as the transparent tape). The first step is to label your disks with whatever blank label came with the disk box they where in (Because the labels you will make are transparent, the color on color coded disk labels will show through giving an neat effect). Now open your favorite word processing or drawing program. Type in the information you want on your labels (Keep it short enough to fit in the tape). Print the information on the blank sheet of paper. Stick the electrical tape over the information you just printed (Be sure to completely cover it an all sides). Now stick the transparent tape over the same electrical tape. Put the paper back in the printer again and print over the transparent tape. Now peel the transparent tape off the electrical tape (Because of the electrical tape's smooth, rubbery surface you should not have any trouble getting it off). Now stick the printed label on the blank labels of your disks. For extra protection glue another layer of transparent tape over the label (The transparent labels can also be used for files, miscellaneous junk and other light colored surfaces).
